Chandigarh: 530 people donated blood in six camps in the city

Chandigarh: Residents of the city joined in large numbers to volunteer at blood donation camps organised at six locations today. 530 units of blood were collected at the camps, which were organised as a tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national security. The camps, organised with the active support of various NGOs, resident welfare associations (RWAs), market welfare associations (MWAs) and government departments, saw enthusiastic participation from government employees, market communities, youth and local citizens. The camps were supervised by trained professionals from government hospitals, ensuring clean, safe and efficient collection processes. Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla inaugurated the camps at community centres in Manimajra and Sector 28-C and Mahila Bhawan in Sector 38.

MC Commissioner Amit Kumar inaugurated another camp organised by the Municipal Corporation Engineers Association at the civic body Bhawan in Sector 17. He too donated blood to boost the morale of the volunteers. Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty inaugurated a blood donation camp at Sector 19 market, which was organised by Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre and area MWA. Deputy Mayor Taruna Mehta inaugurated a similar camp at Sector 15 market. It was organised by Chandigarh Vyapar Mandal. CBM President Sanjeev Chaddha and other office bearers also donated blood at the camp. Speaking after the event, the Mayor highlighted the importance of regular voluntary blood donation and praised the citizens of Chandigarh for such unity and compassion. A blood donation camp was also organised at Sadar Bazar in Sector 19. Several traders along with BJP leader Sanjay Tandon and councillor Anoop Gupta participated in the camp.
