Chandigarh: Police have arrested three members of a gang that has been robbing people by threatening them with sharp sickles in Zirakpur and Chhat Light Point areas for some time now. The arrested persons have been identified as Rajinder Singh, resident of Zirakpur, Sandeep Kumar and Sunny Sachdeva, resident of Dhakoli. Police said the trio used to rob cash and mobile phones from people and get the Google Pay password and transfer the money to the account of a Zirakpur filling station employee. The trio was arrested from the filling station on October 8 and a bike and mobile phone were recovered from them.
On October 4, they had robbed Rs 29,000 from Zirakpur resident Arpit at around 11:15 pm. On October 7, they had robbed Rs 5,000 and a mobile phone from Balongi delivery boy Surjeet Kumar at Chhat Light Point. On the same day, they targeted Sandeep Kumar, a truck driver from Rajasthan on Patiala Road and robbed him of Rs 22,000 and a mobile phone. Besides, they looted Rs 40,000 from a man, Rs 6,200 from a girl, Rs 2,800 from a youth and Rs 4,000 and his mobile phone from a biker. A case has been registered at Zirakpur police station.
