Uttar Pradesh: Amidst the controversy over alleged theft of offerings related to Ram temple in Ayodhya, Sant Samaj has come out openly in support of Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. After his resignation, political and social turmoil in this matter has intensified. After the meeting of Ayodhya Sant Mandal on Saturday, the saints clearly stated in the joint press conference that the allegations leveled against Champat Rai are baseless and he cannot be considered guilty until the investigation is completed. The saints said that their contribution in the Ram temple movement and construction has been important. Mahant of Vaidehi Bhawan, Vaidehi Vallabh Sharan said that these allegations are like a cloud of a few days, which will go away soon. He described Champat Rai as an honest and dedicated person and said that the allegations being made against him are not sustainable. Sant Raghavesh Das Vedanti demanded from the Trust that Champat Rai’s resignation should not be accepted. He said that SIT is investigating and the truth will come out after the investigation is completed. Mahant Shashikant Das of Ram Kachari temple also said that Champat Rai is being deliberately defamed and he has no connection with the matter. At present, investigation into the offering theft case is going on and everyone’s eyes are fixed on the SIT report. The discussion on this dispute is likely to continue until the investigation is completed.
