Chamba: A tourist from Punjab died in a car accident at Rai Da Nala on Dalhousie-Khajjiar road, two kilometers away from Khajjiar on Sunday evening. As soon as the incident was reported, local people and rescue team from Khajjiar police post reached the spot. Police said that the deceased has been identified as Raman Kumar, a resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab. He had come to visit Dalhousie and Khajjiar in a private car with his wife, son, daughter, niece and father-in-law. After visiting Dalhousie, the family was going towards Khajjiar. Due to the weekend, a large number of tourist vehicles were going from Dalhousie to Khajjiar. The family’s vehicle got stuck in a jam two kilometers before Khajjiar.
After the jam was cleared, five people in the vehicle decided to go towards Khajjiar on foot and left Raman Kumar to drive the car. After some time, while moving towards Khajjiar, Kumar lost control of the vehicle. The car went off the road and fell into a deep ditch. Locals and some tourists reported the accident to Khajjiar police station. Kumar was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Chamba Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav said that the police have started an investigation to find out the cause of the accident. He said that after conducting a post-mortem, the body has been handed over to the family.
