CG Rape News: Grandfather raped his granddaughter, arrested
Kanker: A case of breaking relations with a minor has come to light from Bhanupratappur police station area of Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. A former sarpanch has raped his minor granddaughter who had come to her maternal grandparents’ house to celebrate summer vacation. According to the information received from police station in-charge Amit Padmashali, the minor was staying at her maternal grandparents’ house in village Ranwahi to study from class 6th. After a few days, the accused grandfather’s intentions became bad on the minor granddaughter. The minor came in contact with the accused after being lured by the accused.
The minor girl returned to her home after completing class 10th and left her studies. After 1 year, the accused grandfather lured the minor and took her away with him. As soon as the information of this shameful act was received, the minor’s family lodged a report of the case in Bhanupratappur police station. The police registered a case under the POCSO Act and started further action. The police traced the accused former Sarpanch (accused maternal grandfather) and arrested him from Charre-Marre of Antagarh police station area and handed over the girl to her family. The accused former Sarpanch Ranawahi Jagduram Korram was arrested under relevant sections and sent to jail today on 8 June (Saturday).
