Raigarh. Raigarh. Gharghoda police arrested a person while patrolling today on 3 February 2025, taking action against illegal liquor sale in village Jhariapali on the information of an informer. Police station in-charge Ramkinkar had received information that Suraj alias Suresh Sonwani of the village was looking for a customer to sell a large quantity of Mahua liquor. Based on the information, the police team led by Head Constable Arvind Patnaik immediately cordoned off the area and caught the accused.
The arrested person was identified as Suraj alias Suresh Sonwani (35 years), resident of village Jhariapali, Police Station Gharghoda. During the search, 20 liters of Mahua liquor filled in a plastic jar was recovered from him, the estimated price of which is said to be around Rs 3000. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 34 (2) of the Excise Act at Police Station Gharghoda. Head Constable Arvind Patnaik and Constables Shekhar Chandrakar, Bhanu Pratap Chandra and Dinesh Kumar Sidar were involved in this action. The police presented the accused in the court and sent him to jail.
