Raigarh. Police have taken strict action in the case of a married woman’s suicide in the Chakradharnagar police station area of Raigarh district. Considering the seriousness of the case, Chakradharnagar police arrested her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and uncle-in-law on charges of abetment (suicide) and sent them to jail.
The Origin of the Incident and the Married Woman’s Story
On September 23, Chakradharnagar police station received the inquest diary from the City Kotwali police station, Sarangarh, regarding the death of the deceased woman, Amisha Singh. The investigation revealed that Amisha Singh had married Gajanand Singh Rajput, a resident of Sanjay Nagar Bank Colony, Chakradharnagar, in November 2022. For the first six months, the woman’s life remained normal, but things gradually deteriorated. Her in-laws did not accept the love marriage and Amisha was repeatedly taunted. The deceased had repeatedly told her parents that her husband and family were extremely harsh towards her. Her husband, Gajanand, would get drunk and argue with her daily, and beat Amisha.
Frustrated by the torture, Amisha embraced death
Ending constant mental and physical torture, Amisha hanged herself in her home on August 30th. Her family and local residents immediately rushed her to the Medical College Hospital, Raigarh, where her condition worsened and she was referred to Raipur. However, she died on the way near Sarangarh, and doctors at the Sarangarh CHC declared her dead.
The Truth of the Torture Revealed
During the inquest, police recorded statements from the deceased’s parents and neighbors. It became clear that Amisha was constantly harassed by her husband, Gajanand, her mother-in-law, Janaki Bai, her father-in-law, Santosh Kumar Rajput, and her uncle, Shankar Rajput. The mental pressure and torture were the driving force behind her suicide.
