Kawardha. Prashant Sahu, an undertrial prisoner lodged in the district jail in the Loharidih arson case, died under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday morning. The police have kept the body in the mortuary for post-mortem. The family has been informed about the incident. The post-mortem will be done after the family arrives. It is being told that the deceased Prashant Sahu and his elder brother were arrested by Kabirdham police on Sunday on charges of setting fire to the house of Loharidih Deputy Sarpanch and burning the former Sarpanch to death. After which on Monday, the deceased was also lodged in jail along with about 60 accused involved in the incident and Prashant Sahu died on Wednesday morning.
The family has made serious allegations regarding Prashant Sahu’s death. The family has accused the police of assault. At the same time, after Prashant’s death, the family has demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter along with the release of the deceased’s elder brother and mother from jail. On the other hand, Sahu Sangh has demanded a compensation of Rs 2 crore on the death of Prashant Sahu, a government job to a family member and a judicial inquiry. On Wednesday morning too, when the deceased’s health deteriorated, he was being brought to the hospital. But he died while being brought to the hospital. The body of the deceased has been kept in the district hospital for postmortem. The postmortem will be done after the arrival of the family members. On receiving the news of the death of the prisoner, dozens of Congressmen from across the district have reached the district hospital and the crowd has started increasing.
