CG: Action taken against the accused’s father in the minor rape case

Raigarh. Raigarh. Gharghoda police has arrested Sahajuddin Khan (60 years), father of accused Jafar Khan, who was absconding in the case of luring and kidnapping a minor and physically exploiting her. Police have also taken action against his father who was protecting the accused. The arrested accused has been produced in the court and sent on remand. The case dates back to May 9, 2024, when a report of the disappearance of a minor girl was lodged in Gharghoda police station area. The police immediately registered a case and started investigation and investigated crime number 167/2024 under section 363 IPC. During the investigation, on 23 December 2024, the missing girl from Garhwa, Jharkhand was recovered from the house of accused Jafar Khan. During this time the accused and his family had absconded. Keeping in mind the safety of the girl, her statement was recorded and counseling was done by a female police officer. After this, the police added sections 376 (2) (d), 342, 34 IPC and POCSO Act in the case and intensified the search for the accused. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused Jafar Khan, with the help of his parents, kept the minor in his custody from 7 May to 22 December and sexually exploited her. Based on the information received by the police, the accused’s father Sahajuddin Khan (60 years), resident of Garhwa (Jharkhand) was raided and taken into custody. In the case, Section 342 IPC has been removed and 344 IPC has been added as per the evidence.

The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation, after which he was arrested and produced in the court and sent on remand. Under the guidance of SP Divyaang Patel and Additional SP Akash Markam, SDOP Dharamjaygarh Siddhant Tiwari, in this action, police station in-charge Gharghoda Ramkinkar Yadav, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramsanjivan Verma, Wilfred Masih and accompanying staff played an important role. Police is engaged in the search of other absconding accused.
