Business: The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a “critical” warning to Apple users, highlighting multiple vulnerabilities in iPhones, iPads, Macs and other products. The vulnerabilities pose a risk of data breach, disruption of services, spoofing attacks and more. The nodal agency has given the vulnerabilities a severity rating of “high”. In an advisory dated August 2, the affected software includes iOS and iPadOS versions before 17.6 and 16.7.9, macOS Sonoma version before 14.6, macOS Ventura version before 13.6.8, macOS Monterey version before 12.7.6, watchOS version before 10.6, tvOS version before 17.6, visionOS version before 1.3 and Safari version before 17.6. Apple released its latest security updates last week and the latest versions of the software are listed on its official website. CERT had issued a similar warning in May this year, highlighting the high-level risk to iPhone users. “Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products that could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause a denial of service (DOS), and perform spoofing attacks on the targeted system,” CERT-In said in the advisory. CERT-In has asked users to keep their device’s software updated with the latest security patches to address this issue. Apple had earlier also stressed the importance of updating software. Users should check whether they have the latest version of the software provided by the company. CERT-In is the Indian government’s e-commerce platform to deal with cyber security incidents.
