Dhamtari. In view of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and the upcoming festivals, a meeting of the Peace Committee was called in the Collectorate Hall today. In the meeting, CEO District Panchayat Roma Srivastava said that some restrictions have been imposed due to the Model Code of Conduct under the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. He said that festivals should be celebrated with full zeal and enthusiasm while following the model code of conduct. He told the community leaders present that all of you should encourage the people of your community to vote and perform the duty of being responsible citizens.
Superintendent of Police Anjaneya Varshney, while appealing to organize the Ramnavmi festival in a harmonious environment, said that due to the model code of conduct, display of weapons will also be banned under the Arms Act in the rally to be organized on Ramnavmi, at a specific place. Their worship can be done peacefully. Following the instructions issued by the court, there will be a complete ban on loudspeakers. He again appealed to the officials of various societies present that the festivals should be organized in such a way that the religious sentiments of any religion, caste or community are not hurt. Along with this, care should be taken not to conduct any kind of political activities in these religious programs, not to display political symbols, slogans, demonstrations etc.
Various community heads present in the Peace Committee meeting suggested that it would be appropriate to change the route to improve the traffic system on the day of Ram Navami. Along with this, all commercial vehicles should be prohibited from entering the city at the time of the Yatra. The Superintendent of Police asked the community leaders present to appoint volunteers in the rallies coming out from various villages, localities, squares and intersections, who can coordinate with the police and district administration. Besides, arrangement of lighting and CCTV cameras should be ensured at the main intersections of the city.
