Centre announces major infrastructure boost under PM-Janman

Delhi Delhi. Taking a significant step towards strengthening rural connectivity and boosting economic growth, the Rural Development Ministry has approved several road and bridge projects for Tripura and Odisha under the connectivity component of the Pradhan Mantri Janshakti Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM-Janman), the ministry said in a release on Saturday.

For Tripura, 25 roads of total length 84.352 km have been approved with an investment of Rs 76.47 crore, according to the release. Earlier, 42 roads of 118.756 km were approved, costing Rs 114.32 crore.

Odisha has received approval for 26 roads of 63.271 km and two long-span bridges (LSBs) worth Rs 69.65 crore. This complements the already approved 66 roads (211.14 km) and four LSBs costing Rs 219.40 crore.

These projects aim to provide all-weather road connectivity to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) settlements, improve socio-economic conditions, promote economic development and enhance access to essential services such as healthcare, education and markets. This initiative will also generate employment opportunities and is in line with the government’s vision of a developed India (Vikas Bharat).
