Central team inspects projects and schemes in Nagaland

Nagaland: Angshuman Dey, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), inspected projects under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East (PM-DeVINE) and North Eastern Council (NEC) schemes in Dimapur district during his official visit to Nagaland.
According to the DIPR report, Dey inspected the construction of 220/132kV (2×100 MVA) and 132/33kV (2×50 MVA) Tsitrongse-Dimapur substations being executed under PM-DeVINE.
He also visited the ongoing upgrade works of the Radiation Oncology Department at CIHSR, Dimapur, aimed at strengthening cancer care facilities and improving access to advanced treatment services in the district. He was accompanied by Kasho Chishi, Chief Engineer (Transmission and Generation), Asangala Imti, Secretary, Power Department, Nagaland, and Temsunaro Iyer, Development Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, along with officials from other departments.

The Joint Secretary will also review several NEC-funded development projects, including those related to infrastructure and livelihoods.

During his interaction with implementing agencies and district officials, Dey emphasized timely completion of works, strict adherence to quality standards, and efficient utilization of funds to ensure benefits to the people.

Officials from the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, led by Armstrong Palme, Joint Secretary (ICC & RUSA), conducted a three-day official visit to Nagaland from January 14-17, 2026.

As part of this visit, a one-day regional workshop on RUSA/PM-USHA was held in Kohima on January 16, hosted by the Higher Education Department of Nagaland, for the North-Eastern states of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Mizoram, according to a DIPR report.

Key discussions during the workshop included PFMS/SNA-SPARSH issues, the PM-USHA portal, a review of ongoing projects, state-specific challenges, and sharing of best practices. The workshop aimed to support states and higher education institutions (HEIs) in strengthening implementation, improving fund utilization, and aligning initiatives with the objectives of NEP 2020 and PM-USHA. Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, also addressed the gathering. Following the workshop, MoE officials conducted on-site visits to PM-USHA projects in Nagaland to assess physical and financial progress. At Dimapur Government College, ongoing and completed projects such as the girls’ hostel, academic block, incubation centre/skill hub, and library building upgrade were reviewed. The team also inspected two Scheduled Tribe girls’ hostels at Kohima Science College and the Professional College of Music and Fine Arts, Tsiseema.
