Ghaziabad: A case of installation of CCTV cameras above the women’s changing room in the Shani Mandir Ghat complex located at Ganganahar in Muradnag of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh has come to light. A woman has complained about this in the police station. It is alleged that the CCTV camera was connected to Mahant’s mobile. Mahant is absconding after this incident. The police have registered a report against him and started the search.
A woman resident of a village along with her daughter had come to take bath in Ganganahar at around 3 pm on 21st May. It is being told that after bathing, the woman went to the women’s changing room on the ghat to change her clothes. She alleges that while she was changing her clothes, her eyes fell on the CCTV camera. The camera was focused towards the changing room. Due to this, every activity in the changing room was being recorded. The woman quickly changed her clothes and told this to Mahant Mukesh Goswami. The woman alleges that when she told this, Mahant misbehaved with her and threatened to look into it if she complained to the police.
The woman also alleges that the CCTV camera is connected to Mahant’s mobile. Mahant watches women changing clothes in the changing room on his mobile. He says that this has been going on for a long time. It became known when he lost his vision. The woman has given a complaint in this regard at Muradnagar police station.
When we talked to Mahant about the matter on Thursday, he told that CCTV cameras have been installed by the temple. There is no camera installed in the changing room. The monkey turned the camera installed on the pole. Due to this the camera turned towards the changing room. An apology has been sought from the woman for this. There has been no objectionable recording. However, his mobile has been switched off since the report was filed.
Mahant Mukesh Goswami dominates the ghat. Only temple committee employees can run shops around the premises. According to information received from police sources, the criminal record of Mahant is being investigated. It is being told that Mahant and his wife had also gone to jail from Meerut a decade ago. Police are also detaining Mahant’s family members and interrogating them.
