CBI arrested head constable in bribery case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a head constable posted at Delhi’s Sonia Vihar police station in a bribery case, an official CBI statement said.

A case was registered in CBI against the head constable for taking a bribe of Rs 8,000. “The complainant alleged that he was constructing a house on contract basis for his sister at Kaushalpuri in Sonia Vihar,” the CBI said. The accused head constable stopped the construction work and demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 to restart it.”

“It was further alleged that the head constable later agreed to Rs 8,000,” it added. Accordingly, CBI laid a trap and arrested the head constable while taking a bribe of Rs 8,000. Besides, the residence of the accused was also raided.
Further investigation is underway.
