CAT launches National Digital Citizen Forum
Raipur. National Senior Vice President of Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) Amar Parwani, Chairman Magelal Malu, Amar Gidwani, State President Jitendra Doshi, Executive President Vikram Singhdev, Parmanand Jain, Vashu Makhija, General Secretary Surinder Singh, Executive General Secretary Bharat Jain and Treasurer Ajay Agarwal. informed that the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) announced the creation of a National Digital Citizens Forum which is an online platform aimed at furthering the rights of traders and consumers and other sections of the society and promoting the digital economy in India around business. The Forum was launched by Union MSME Minister Narayan Rane at the two-day National Convention of CAIT in New Delhi on 19th April to raise awareness about digital regulations across the country and enhance digital capability of citizens through expert sessions.
National Senior Vice President of CAT Amar Parwani and State President Jitendra Doshi said that the National Digital Citizen Forum will focus on five main topics. Firstly, to strengthen consumer protection and online security; secondly, to discourage the harm of digital cartelization and discriminatory and anti-competitive practices in the online world. Third, Indian digital technologies have the potential to not only transform retail and industrial business, but also boost employment and expand the investment footprint. Fourth, a first principles-based taxation policy that encourages certainty and productivity, especially for sectors with high growth potential, while preventing illegal activities such as tax evasion and money laundering. And the Digital Citizens Forum will study emerging technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence to assess their impact on retail trade as well as protect the interests of consumers.
“The National Digital Citizen Forum will work to help realize the dream of ‘Digital India’. It will also play an important role in helping it fulfill its agenda of building a self-reliant India in its journey to become a $1 trillion digital economy in the next few years”, said the two business leaders.
“The CAT Forum will involve stakeholders from corporate and non-corporate sectors, MSMEs, consumers, experts and technocrats, apart from other relevant groups within the CAT Forum,” Parwani and Doshi said. National Digital Citizen Forum Awareness camps, digital and physical interactions and training as well as targeted outreach to stakeholders from the private sector and civil society, including policy makers and other relevant stakeholders, to realize its objectives.
