Police have sought information about the previous criminal record of the accused from the police station of the accused’s residence. Police arrested the accused and sent him to jail on judicial remand.

According to the police, Firnadas Sahu, a resident of Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar, Raipur, filed a police report on August 25 that on August 24, he had given his car, an Artica car worth Rs 11 lakh, on rent, which driver Sandeep Thawait had brought from Raipur to Rajnandgaon on booking. After dropping the passenger, he got another booking of the car on phone, he made the booking person sit in the car and parked the car with the keys in it near the railway station of Rajnandgaon at around 7 pm and went to urinate. During this time, the said person told that the car was stolen. On the report, Section 303(2) BNS was registered against the unknown accused and investigation was taken up. Senior officers were informed about the matter.

Under the guidance of police officers and the leadership of Kotwali police station in-charge inspector Aman Sahu, a team was formed from Kotwali Rajnandgaon police station and the CCTV camera footage installed at the crime scene and around it was searched and technical assistance was taken to search for the unknown accused. Based on the clues found in the footage and the description of the accused given by the driver of the car and the information from the informer, the team formed surrounded the suspect near Bargi toll plaza in Jabalpur, MP with the help of Bargi police of Madhya Pradesh and caught him.

On interrogation, he told his name and address to be Ajay Kumar Rajak of MP. The Artica car was recovered from his possession and brought from Jabalpur to Rajnandgaon. After finding evidence of crime against the accused, he was arrested on 27 August and presented in the court on judicial remand. The accused has been lodged in the district jail of Rajnandgaon after a jail warrant was issued. Police sources say that the accused calls from fake numbers and books the car and commits theft by deceiving the driver. Information regarding previous criminal record of the accused has been sought from the police station of his area of ​​residence.
