A segment of the newly constructed solar roof cycling track on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Nanakramguda in Hyderabad suffered damage when a speeding SUV collided with it on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into the cycling track. Fortunately, there were no casualties as the accident transpired at a time when there were no commuters, pedestrians, or cyclists present. The driver, whose car lacked a number plate, is presently evading authorities.
This marks yet another instance of vehicles veering into the cycling track since its inauguration on October 23, 2023. Approximately four to five crashes have been recorded on the track since its opening.
While there have been no fatalities, the recurring accidents have left cyclists apprehensive. Concerns have been raised by cycling enthusiasts regarding the safety of their lives despite the implementation of the cycling track, situated adjacent to the ORR service road.
