Amritsar: Election campaigning has intensified in the Lok Sabha constituency with leaders of all major parties reaching out to voters in the holy city.
CM Bagwant Mann held a road show in support of AAP candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, while Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate from Bathinda, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, paid obeisance at Darbar Sahib. He started his election campaign after offering prayers at the holy temple. He claimed that AAP will lose all the 13 seats in the state.
More star campaigners from different parties are expected to visit the holy city.
Congress candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat Gurjit Singh Aujla today reached Jallianwala Bagh to pay tribute to the martyrs and freedom fighters. He said that India first got independence from the British and today the time has come to get independence from the BJP rule.
Aujla also participated in an election meeting with workers in Majitha. He said that the Congress is fully prepared for the Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of Punjab Unit President Amarendra Singh Raja Wadding.
Congress is contesting elections on all 13 seats in Punjab. Aujla said that the AAP government is filing illegal cases against Congress leaders and workers and is shedding the blood of the youth of Punjab.
At a BJP election meeting, its state spokesperson Sarchand Singh Khayla said that Mann was on a 5-day tour in view of the Lok Sabha elections, but his road show for the party candidate received a poor response. The absence of AAP MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh proved that like common people, AAP leaders are also feeling cheated.
Former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been made the BJP candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha constituency.
