After nearly 24 hours of interrogation and investigation in the alleged ‘bitcoin scam’ case of Maharashtra, ED officials left the house of foreign trading businessman Gaurav Mehta in Amrapali Society on Thursday afternoon. They have taken with them laptops, printers, and other documents wrapped in red and white clothes. A team of more than 8 male and female ED officials were raiding Gaurav’s house since Wednesday afternoon. As soon as the ED team left, the CBI officers who were waiting there since yesterday reached Gaurav’s house. It is understood that after interrogation, the CBI can take Gaurav into their custody. Earlier in the morning, ED officials told the media only that interrogation and investigation is going on. Both Mehta brothers are at their home in Amrapali Society. In the investigation so far, 6 more companies of foreign trading businessman Gaurav Mehta have been revealed. It is being told that Gaurav had formed Catex, Blockchain Innovation Private Limited Company in the year 2016, in which Gaurav Mehta, his brother Akshay Mehta and his friends are directors. All of them are directors of 6 companies including Sponge Iron in Kolkata and a brokerage company in Mumbai. It is being told that Gaurav Mehta works for a consultancy, which was helping Pune Police in investigating Amit Bhardwaj’s 6600 crore cryptocurrency scam. Former IPS Ravindranath Patil had recently claimed that Gaurav Mehta was contacted by Congress party leaders Supriya Sule and Nana Patole and the money for use in the elections was delivered through the Bitcoin scam through Gaurav.
It is also being told that ED officials have found some documents and computer hard disks including laptops in Gaurav’s house, which is being investigated by the ED’s technical team. Along with this, some important documents related to the bank have also been found, for which the employees of local banks are being called and investigated. The special thing about this raid was that a 5-member ED team was waiting in the car outside Gaurav’s house for more than 10 hours. It is being told about Gaurav Mehta that he is an expert in artificial intelligence and cyber field. He has always been officially included in the cyber crime cell team in the raids of enforcement agencies in Chhattisgarh.
Along with this, it is said that he played a significant role behind the scenes in the elections held in many states. Also, former IPS Ravindranath Patil went to jail in the year 2018 only after Gaurav’s testimony. At the time of writing the news, the ED team’s raid operation is going on in businessman Gaurav Mehta’s house in Raipur. Along with this, Gaurav Mehta and his brother Akshay Mehta are being questioned.
