Tamil Nadu: A major accident occurred in Kallakurichi district on Wednesday morning when a government express bus overturned into a roadside ditch near Ulundurpet. A total of nine people including the bus driver were injured in this accident. After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the area.
According to the information, this government express bus carrying about 21 passengers had left for Chennai from Tiruchendur in Thoothukudi district on Tuesday night. The bus was being driven by Sivaguru (59), son of Chinnathambi, a resident of Old Pallavaram area of ​​Chennai. The bus was running on its scheduled route and the journey of passengers was continuing normally.
When the bus reached P. Mambakkam railway flyover on Trichy-Chennai National Highway around 6 am on Wednesday, an untoward incident occurred. It is being told that the driver of a private luxury bus moving ahead suddenly hit the government bus and fled from the spot. Due to this collision, the government express bus lost its balance.
After losing balance, the bus overturned in a ditch on the roadside, causing screams among the passengers traveling in it. A total of nine people have been injured in the accident, which includes bus driver Shivguru, three men, four women and a girl. The injured were immediately taken out safely with the help of local people.
As soon as information about the incident was received, nearby villagers reached the spot and informed the police. After this Ulundurpet police reached the spot and relief and rescue operations were started. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Police have started preliminary investigation and are searching for the absconding private bus driver. After this accident, traffic on the highway was also affected for some time, which was later normalized.
