Ghaziabad (IANS) | Two accused who stole goods from flats by entering highrise societies in Ghaziabad were caught on Thursday. In this, one is an interstate level thief and the other is a goldsmith buying jewellery. The police have also recovered stolen jewelery from several flats.
DCP City Nipun Aggarwal said, thefts were happening in the closed flats of Mahagunapuram and Jasmine Society located on NH-24 for the last few days. Several cases were registered in this regard at Kavi Nagar police station. Kavinagar police station has arrested two accused in this case on Thursday. These accused are Sajid alias Salman and Puneet Verma. Both are residents of Nagar Kotwali area in Hapur. Sajid alias Salman told, he climbs over the boundary wall of the highrise society and secretly enters inside. After this, by taking out the windows of the locked flat, he enters inside and commits thefts there. Sajid used to sell the stolen jewelery to Puneet Verma, a bullion trader from Hapur. It is learned that Puneet Verma has already gone to jail earlier in such cases.
The police have recovered 5 gold chains, three rings, jhumkis, ear-tops, etc. from the accused and the tools used in the theft.
