Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh has directed all the police gazetted officers of Raipur Police, station in-charges including in-charge anti-crime and cyber unit to take necessary action by tracing the people involved in this business including those running the betting and to effectively curb the business of betting. In this sequence, on 20.06.2024, the team of New Rajendra Nagar Police Station received information that a person riding a four-wheeler in the parking lot under the over bridge located at Lalpur under the police station New Rajendra Nagar area is operating online betting through mobile phone. On which, under the guidance of senior officers and leadership of police station in-charge New Rajendra Nagar, the team of New Rajendra Police Station went to the said place and traced the four-wheeler told by the informer and marked the vehicle.
Who told his name to be Basant Gupta during interrogation. When the team members checked the mobile phone kept with him, he was found to be operating online betting. On strict interrogation of Basant Gupta regarding the operation of betting, he told that he along with his partner Manmeet Singh Gurudatta, resident of Khariyar Road, Odisha, was operating online betting by taking his ID. On which the accused Basant Gupta was arrested and 02 mobile phones related to the incident, cash amount of Rs 9,900/- and Keo car number CG 04 PT 6668 worth about Rs 12,31,900/- were seized from his possession and action was taken against the accused in New Rajendra Nagar police station under crime number 276/24 Chhattisgarh Gambling Prohibition Act 2022. Every possible effort is being made to trace and arrest the accused Manmeet Singh Gurudatta involved in the case.
