Book Exhibition at DAV College

Two day book exhibition has started at DAV College Amritsar. It was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Amardeep Gupta. The themes of this exhibition are entrepreneurship, innovation, common sense, creativity and hobbies. Dr. Amardeep said that the main objective of this exhibition is to acquaint the students with the collection available in the library. He said that this is a way of inculcating and promoting the habit of reading among the students. More than 200 titles are displayed in the college library. Faculty members and students from graduation and post graduation classes visited the exhibition. Library in-charge Dr. Kamal Kishore said that feedback is also being taken from the readers. There are many suggestions coming from faculty members as well as students, which will be included in the upcoming book exhibitions.
presentation on punjabi culture
Kamalpreet Singh (MA Semester 4) student of School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar participated in ‘Yuva Sangam’, youth orientation program under the patronage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Kamaljit participated in ‘Manipur Darshan’ program organized in the name of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat. Dr. Manjinder Singh, Head of the School of Punjabi Studies, said that Kamalpreet Singh participated in this program to introduce Punjabi culture to the students gathered in Manipur across the country. He said that Kamalpreet met Manipur Chief Minister N Biren and Manipur University Vice-Chancellor Professor N Lokendra Singh and presented his views on various aspects of Punjabi culture. Under this programme, this student presented Jhumar, a famous folk dance of Punjab. Kamalpreet will present his views on Punjabi culture in the next program through the presentation of a research paper before the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
inaugurated the new school building
Sri Guru Harkishan Public School, Gopalpura inaugurated the newly constructed Pre-Primary Wing building to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the school. President Pramukh Khalsa Dewan, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar, Cabinet Minister, Punjab and Savinder Singh Kaithoongal (Honorary Secretary), Pramukh Khalsa Diwan inaugurated the building. Principal Paramjit Kaur welcomed the guests and highlighted the achievements of the school. Savinder Singh Kaithoonangal, the founder member of the school in-charge said that the newly constructed three-storey building has 14 state-of-the-art rooms and a big hall. He said that it is the desire of the member in-charge that the children studying in rural areas should be updated by providing high level technical courses. Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar motivated the students and teachers to work hard to keep themselves in pace with the new advancements in education.
world heritage day celebrated
A special assembly was organized by the Department of Social Sciences of Senior Studies on the occasion of World Heritage Day. The program started with Ganesh Vandana. Various dances were presented by the students of junior and senior wing. To make the program livelier and more entertaining, the anchors from the famous film Munna Bhai MBBS were roped in as “Munna Bhai and Circuit”. Some of the students narrated case studies about dabbawalas and their efficient system of delivering tiffins without any delay or errors. The students of the junior wing dressed up as dabbawalas and danced on the famous Marathi number ‘Zhingat’. Some students recited poems on life in Mumbai and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks of 2008. Information was provided on various monuments and world heritage sites in Mumbai. Director, Vijay Mehra told them about the different types of heritage and the importance of preserving and taking pride in our heritage.

Award Ceremony of NCC Cadets of Army Wing at Sarup Rani Mahila College under Capt. M.K. Watts, Commander NCC Air Wing as Chief Gust. Awards were given to distinguished cadets and certificates to cadets for their outstanding services to the institute and society. CTO Ekta Verma welcomed the chief guest and gave a motivational speech to the cadets. Principal Daljit Kaur addressed the cadets, while the chief guest, Commander Air Wing, Group Captain M.K. Vats also boosted the enthusiasm of the cadets with his impressive words. Various items like poetry recitation, solo dance, group song, group dance etc. were performed by the cadets.
