Bombing of two Iraqi military bases near Baghdad

BAGHDAD: Two Iraqi military bases were bombed by unidentified aircraft just after midnight on Saturday in Babil province, south of Baghdad. “The airstrikes were carried out by drones. Two positions belonging to the Iraqi paramilitary Hashd Shaabi forces were targeted in the Mahawil area in the northern part of Babil province,” an Interior Ministry source told the media.
Xinhua news agency quoted a source as saying that one of the two targeted targets was an ammunition warehouse of the paramilitary forces and the other was their tank headquarters. The source also said explosions were heard in the Madain area, about 30 kilometers southeast of Baghdad, but there was no immediate information on the origin of the blasts.
