BJP will contest all 117 seats in the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections: Tarun Chugh

Punjab: Speaking in Nangal today, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that the party will contest all 117 seats in Punjab in the 2027 assembly elections. Chugh, along with BJP State Vice President Subhash Sharma, was in Nangal to participate in the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee organized by the BJP. Chugh said that the BJP is not in talks with the SAD for an alliance in the upcoming assembly elections in the state. The party wants to go it alone in the next assembly elections and is working at the grassroots level in every seat. He said, “The party is in a position to form a government on its own in Punjab for the first time.” The BJP National General Secretary said that the current AAP government has incurred a debt of ₹1 lakh crore in the last four years, and the total debt burden in Punjab has increased to nearly ₹4 lakh crore. After failing to perform well in the state, the AAP government is creating unnecessary issues in Punjab. The state government has launched a campaign against the central government’s Vikassheel Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihoods Mission (GRAMG) scheme. Chugh said the BJP will launch a nationwide campaign to spread awareness about the new scheme. While the Punjab government was opposing the GRAMG scheme, it provided an average of only 28 days of employment to workers in the state under the old MNREGA scheme. The GRAMG scheme promises 125 days of employment per year. The Government of India wants to add value to the work done under the GRAMG scheme. Chugh said, “Previously, most of the funds under MNREGA were being misappropriated, and no value was being added. Now, under the GRAMG scheme, funds will be allocated for genuine, necessary work in the rural areas of the state.” Addressing BJP workers in Nangal, Subhash Sharma said the current AAP government has unleashed a reign of terror in the state. He said, “False cases are being filed against opposition party leaders, journalists, and anyone who speaks out against them. The current government has only one year left; the people of Punjab will rise up to overthrow it.”
