BJP MP Kirori Lal Meena arrested

Jaipur (IANS) | Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena was arrested near Ashok Nagar police station here on Thursday, where he was sitting on a dharna. Alleging irregularities in the tender to the tune of Rs 20,000 crore, Meena had been asking police officials for two days to register an FIR against state Water Minister Mahesh Joshi and IAS officer Subodh Agarwal. Angered by the attitude of the police, they staged a sit-in outside the police station. On Thursday morning, when he went to a nearby place to freshen up, the police team surrounded the picket site and removed the vehicles parked there with cranes. Later, when Meena returned to the protest site, he was arrested and taken to the Chaksu police station. His followers are now protesting at this place.

Talking to the media, Meena said that CM Ashok Gehlot is saying that whoever has a problem, an FIR will be lodged. He said, now it means that the CM is lying.

He said he has proof of his claims. When asked that Minister of State Mahesh Joshi has said that he will file a defamation case against him, he said, the minister concerned can file a defamation case.

On Wednesday, Meena accused Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, alleging a massive scam in the Mines and Geology Department.

Addressing a press conference, the MP said, there are irregularities in the Mines Department even during Gehlot’s tenure. The mines of the state are being looted simultaneously. The MP said that Rajasthan is the first state in the country where maximum number of mining leases have been given. Permits are distributed by donation instead of e-auction.
