TANGLA: Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker and Paneri MLA Biswajit Daimary on Friday inaugurated a library-cum-learning center at Kahibari LP School under Khoirabari primary education block in Udalguri district. Addressing the inaugural session, Chairman Daimary appreciated the initiative of the school management and stakeholders in promoting reading habits among the students and molding their curiosity in a positive manner. He urged the students to devote time to their academic and co-curricular activities to grasp the knowledge and shine in various career opportunities.
Jaipal Singh Brahma, school inspector, Udalguri, said, “Out of 124 groups in Udalguri, 6 groups have built libraries, with the aim of developing reading habits among students.” He further said that the libraries will be maintained by teachers and students and we will put students in charge of libraries so that they can learn the ability of management and supervision. Malika Pathak Saraniya, CRCC, Hachra, said, “The aim of this initiative is to provide educational material including story books, novels accessible to students.”
Earlier, the objective of the meeting was explained in detail by Dr. Subhash Rabha, Consultant, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), Udalguri. Deputy Inspector of Schools, Udalguri, Bhumidhar Boro was also present in the programme; BEO Khoirabari Block, Bavathi Boro, CRCC Dilip Prasad Sarma; Dilip Basumatary, Zakir Hussain, Sanjeeb Boro, Biswajit Kachari, Dhananjay Ramachiari among others.
