raipur news. Ramen Deka took oath of his office as the 10th Governor of Chhattisgarh in a dignified ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan today. Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court Justice Shri Ramesh Sinha administered the oath to him. Governor Deka took oath in the name of God. First Lady Rani Deka Kakoti was present on this occasion. At the ceremony, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain read out the Warrant of Appointment issued by President Draupadi Murmu to appoint Ramen Deka as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. The swearing-in ceremony began and ended with the national anthem played by the ceremonial police band. The tune of the state song was also played on this occasion. After the swearing-in, Governor Shri Ramen Deka was given a guard of honor.
Governor Ramen Deka Biography of Governor Ramen Deka is as follows-
Ramen Deka, the 10th Governor of Chhattisgarh, was born on 1 March 1954 in Sualkuchi, Kamrup (Assam), Assam. His father’s name is late Surendra Nath Deka and mother’s name is late Mrs. Champabati Deka. He is survived by his wife Rani Deka Kakoti and two children. He received his BA degree in Philosophy and Economics from Pragjyotish College, Guwahati University, Assam.
Ramen Deka is a senior politician. He has been active in politics since 1977. He was a founding member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the year 1980. Ramen Deka has also been the state president of Assam BJP in the year 2006. Mr. Deka has been the Vice Chairman of the Innovation and Transformation Commission of Assam State (Cabinet Minister rank) from August 2021 till 29 July 2024.
He was a Member of Parliament twice. For the first time in the year 2009, he was elected as an MP from Mangaldoi seat of Assam for the 15th Lok Sabha. During this time, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Member of Public Accounts, Member of India Bhutan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Member of Subordinate Legislation Committee, Member of Committee on Absence of Members from the House Meetings. After that in the year 2014, he was re-elected as MP for the 16th Lok Sabha. In the second term, Deka was also a member of the panel of chairmen in the Lok Sabha.
During this period, he discharged the responsibilities of Member Estimates Committee, Member Advisory Committee, Member Ministry of External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs, Central Advisory Committee Member under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana, Indo-China Parliamentary Friendship Group Member, Member of Tea Board. In the second term itself, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Member General Purposes Committee, Member Sub-Committee Second Estimates Committee, Member Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Vice-Chairman of Innovation Transformation Commission Assam from 2021 till now. Deka took oath as the Governor of Chhattisgarh on 31 July 2024.
