Big update in the case of slapping CISF jawan

Jaipur: SpiceJet has issued a statement in the case of slapping CISF jawan at Jaipur airport. The company has said that the employee was sexually harassed. It has also clarified that the company stands firmly with its employee in this matter. The video of this incident also went viral, in which it is seen that during the conversation, the airlines employee slaps the uniformed jawan.

SpiceJet said, ‘Today an unfortunate incident took place at Jaipur airport, involving a female SpiceJet employee and a male CISF personnel. While taking the catering vehicle out of the gate, our female security staff member, a holder of a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), was subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel, including asking her to come and meet him at home after duty hours.’

The company further said, ‘SpiceJet is taking immediate legal action in this case of sexual harassment against its female employee and has informed the local police. We stand firmly with our employee and are giving her full support.’

A female employee of an aviation company was arrested on Thursday for slapping the officer. Police have registered a case of assault against Anuradha Rani on the basis of the complaint of the CISF officer, while the aviation company also contacted the local police and said that it is taking ‘immediate legal action’. Officials said that the local court has sent the woman to judicial custody.

The police had initially said that Rani works as a food supervisor, but the aviation company described her as a female security staff. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Kavendra Singh said, ‘We are investigating the matter, after which appropriate action will be taken.’

CISF officials said Anuradha Rani was entering the airport at around 4 am through the ‘vehicle gate’ along with other staff when CISF Assistant Sub Inspector Giriraj Prasad stopped her for not having valid permission to use the gate.

The woman was then asked to undergo a check at the nearby entry gate meant for the company’s crew members but no female CISF personnel was present there at that time, CISF officials said. Jaipur airport station in-charge Ram Lal said the ASI called a female colleague for the security check but the argument escalated and the SpiceJet employee slapped her.

When asked about the sexual harassment allegations levelled by the woman against the ASI, CISF officials said the allegation was made ‘afterthought’ as they refused to settle the matter among themselves and decided to lodge a police complaint. He said the incident was being thoroughly investigated and CCTV footage showed that the woman attacked the uniformed officer “without any provocation”.
