In this meeting, representatives of central government employees’ organizations, unions and pensioners participated and put forward their demands and problems before the Commission. In the meeting, the employees raised the demand for improvement in pay structure, increase in fitment factor and amendment in various allowances. Employees say that in view of rising inflation and cost of living, there should be such a provision in the new pay commission, which can improve their financial condition. Demand to increase fitment factor The biggest discussion in the 8th Pay Commission is about the fitment factor. Employee organizations have been demanding to increase the fitment factor for a long time. He believes that by increasing the fitment factor, a big change can be seen in the basic salary of the employees. Apart from this, many employee organizations have also demanded increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Travel Allowance (TA). Some organizations are demanding that dearness allowance be included in the basic pay, so that employees and pensioners can get better benefits. Commission is collecting suggestions from across the country The 8th Pay Commission is not limited to just one meeting. The Commission is taking suggestions from government employee organizations, pensioners and other stakeholders across the country. On the basis of these suggestions, recommendations will be prepared regarding changes in salary, pension and allowances. The commission aims to submit its final report to the central government. After the report is prepared, the government will consider these recommendations and after that a final decision will be taken regarding the change in the salaries of the employees. Employees expect salary increase After the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, central employees and pensioners are expecting an increase in salary and pension. However, till now no official announcement has been made by the government regarding the final amount of salary increase or the new fitment factor. Employee organizations say that the current economic conditions and inflation should be kept in mind in the new pay commission. He emphasizes that the employees should get adequate relief in the new system and the allowances should also be revised as per the current needs. Preparation to submit report by 2027 The formation of the 8th Pay Commission is being considered as a long awaited step for the employees and pensioners. The Commission is gathering suggestions by discussing at various levels. It is believed that the Commission can submit its final report to the Central Government by the year 2027. Only after the report comes, it will be clear how much will be the change in the salary, pension and allowances of the employees. At present, after the Kolkata meeting, the expectations of the employees have increased and all eyes are fixed on the next recommendations of the Commission.
