Big drop in Tesla’s sales, up to 81% reduction in Europe

World World: Tesla (TSLA.O) sales fell across Europe in April to a 2.5-year low, with a drop of up to 81% in Sweden, as European consumers now prefer Chinese electric vehicles and some oppose CEO Elon Musk’s political views.

Sales of Tesla’s new cars in Sweden fell 80.7% in April, the lowest since October 2022, according to the data. Sales in the Netherlands fell 73.8%, while Portugal fell 33% and Denmark fell 67.2%. France also fell 59.4%.

This decline has further deepened doubts about whether the launch of Tesla’s new Model Y will be able to revive its sales in Europe. However, it has been possible to take orders for this car in many countries of Europe, but it remains to be seen what impact it has on the market.

Tesla faces increasing competition from other traditional carmakers and Chinese companies, which are often launching affordable EVs.
