Madhya Pradesh: In 2025, minor arguments while drinking alcohol, old enmities, and love affairs were the main reasons behind the 49 murders in Bhopal district.
Police analysis reveals that most of the murders were the result of failed love affairs, property and money disputes, old rivalries, domestic quarrels, and arguments fueled by alcohol. However, investigators say that several cases have come to light where brutal murders occurred due to very trivial disputes. One of the most shocking incidents was the murder in Gautam Nagar on November 26, where a middle-aged man was beaten to death for refusing to give someone a cigarette. On May 10, in the same area, another man was murdered for refusing to give money for alcohol.
On August 6, in Ayodhya Nagar, a student was stabbed to death by thugs over a trivial argument about who would get petrol first. On May 26, in Arera Hills, a man murdered his younger brother because they had an argument over wearing jeans.
