Bhopal: Hindu organizations have warned schools against forcing children to wear Santa Claus costumes.

Madhya Pradesh: Several Hindu organizations in the city have warned schools against forcing children to dress up as Santa Claus during Christmas celebrations.

Jitendra Chauhan, the provincial co-secretary of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), said on Monday that the VHP and Bajrang Dal will send letters to all schools in Central India. These letters will request that students who follow Sanatan Hindu Dharma and traditions not be asked to dress up as Santa Claus or bring Christmas trees for Christmas programs at school. “We request your school not to make any Hindu student dress up as Santa Claus without their parents’ consent,” Chauhan said. He added that if any school does so, the Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal will be prepared to take legal action against that school.

The Hindu Utsav Samiti and Sanskriti Bachao Manch have also issued warnings regarding the practice of making children dress up as Santa Claus in missionary schools.
