Bhopal: 50-year-old man dies in hut fire

Madhya Pradesh: Bilkheria police reported on Sunday that a 50-year-old man died in a fire that broke out in his hut in Kokta late Saturday night.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Santosh Kumar Yadav (50), son of Bihari Lal Yadav, who lived in Kokta House No. 4. He was a mason and lived alone in a makeshift hut, surviving on food provided by neighbors.

Police reported that due to the extreme cold, Santosh lit a fire near his bed inside the hut to keep himself warm before going to sleep. The fire spread rapidly during the night and engulfed the entire hut. Santosh, along with his bed, was trapped in the flames and suffered severe burns.

Hearing the screams and seeing flames rising from the hut, neighbors rushed to the scene. They extinguished the fire and pulled him out, but by then he had already been burned to death.
