Bengaluru: Two people were seriously injured in a powerful explosion near the Main Udupi Uphaar in JP Nagar. Two youths, Sameer and Mosin, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, were injured in the blast that occurred around 10 am on Monday. According to reports, the explosion was so intense that household items were scattered. Initial suspicions point to a gas cooker as the likely cause, but investigators have found burnt wires at the scene, complicating the assessment. The incident took place in the jurisdiction of the Puttenahalli police station. Both the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and a central probe team have rushed to investigate, working in coordination with the local police to ascertain the cause and assess the damage. NIA officials are particularly concerned, saying the blast appears to be more severe than a normal gas cooker explosion. The force of the blast devastated the room, raising concerns, especially on the eve of Independence Day. Local police and NIA officials are currently inspecting the area, assessing the condition of the injured and investigating the involvement of two youths in the incident. While the Puttenahalli police have completed their preliminary investigation and returned, the NIA is continuing its in-depth probe. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand has confirmed that the blast was caused by a gas cooker and not a terror incident. He informed that the incident involved a short circuit, which led to the blast. Two persons were seriously injured in the blast. Commissioner Dayanand said that further inspection of the spot is underway.
