Bengal school recruitment scam: Opposition criticizes Sayoni Ghosh for not appearing before ED

Kolkata (IANS). The opposition in West Bengal has criticized Trinamool Youth Congress president and Bengali actress Sayoni Ghosh for not appearing before the ED for questioning on Wednesday. The central agency had called him for the second round of questioning in the multi-crore school recruitment scam.

Opposition leaders are seeing this as a U-turn from their earlier commitments to extend full cooperation in the matter.

Although state Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh claimed that actress-turned-politician Sayoni had informed the central agency about her inability to appear for questioning, but there was no official confirmation from the central agency about the same. Is.

It is learned that Ghosh had left her residence this morning and till the filing of the report, there was no information about her whereabouts.

According to senior CPI(M) leader and former party MLA Tanmay Bhattacharya, “She did not attend the second round on Wednesday morning. Secondly, he himself did not announce his decision not to join the inquiry and instead fielded Kunal Ghosh to do so.

BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said that his prior engagements to participate in the election campaign cannot be an excuse to avoid questioning.

He said, “So far it has not been said anywhere that he is an accused in the school recruitment case. The central agency is questioning several people for cross checking the information available in the case. If anyone claims that he is innocent, he should face the inquiry without any fear.

Announcing Sayoni Ghosh’s non-arrival at the ED office on Wednesday morning through a video message, Kunal Ghosh questioned the timing of such summons by ED officials when full campaigning is underway for the rural civic body elections.

Kunal Ghosh said, “Earlier our party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was called when he was busy with his public outreach program.”
