Battery stolen from seven cars in Dhanas

Unidentified miscreants have stolen batteries from seven vehicles parked outside houses in Dhanas.

Harmanjit Singh, owner of one of the cars targeted by the suspects, said he had parked his vehicle on Sunday evening. This morning, he found the car’s bonnet open and the battery missing. He further said the battery of his uncle’s car parked next to his vehicle was also stolen.

Kalpana Rana, another car owner, said she came to know about the theft on returning home in the afternoon. “Batteries from as many as seven cars were stolen and I believe the number could be higher as many car owners might not have checked their vehicles,” she added. The police were informedabout the incident.

An investigation has been initiated at the Sarangpur police station.

Sources said there were no CCTV cameras in the vicinity of the crime scene. Residents claimed it was not the first time such an incident had been reported in the area. “Thefts from vehicles are commonplace in Dhanas,” claimed a resident.
