Hyderabad: Police in Hyderabad have caught a Bangladeshi woman who had come to India illegally and was engaged in prostitution. The police have also arrested the couple who had given shelter to the woman and used her for prostitution.
The 22-year-old Bangladeshi woman entered India illegally two months ago and reached Hyderabad via Kolkata and was living in a house in Chandrayangutta area of the city. The illegal stay of the foreign national came to light when she went to a customer without informing the couple, with whom she had a fight.
Police investigation revealed that Sheikh Sania (27), whose mother is Bangladeshi and father is from India, had many acquaintances in Kolkata. She had a love marriage with Mohammed Salman (24), who worked in a clothing shop, and the couple was living in Chandrayangutta.
Sania told police that she had come in contact with Akhtar (22), a Bangladeshi woman, on a chatting app used by citizens of Bangladesh and Myanmar. They became friends and the Bangladeshi woman asked him if she could earn some money in Hyderabad. When Sania told her that she could earn Rs 10,000 per month by working as a maid and Rs 20,000 from prostitution, the Bangladeshi woman replied that she was ready to do any work to earn money.
After crossing the border illegally to enter India, she reached Kolkata and boarded a train from there to Secunderabad. Sania and her husband picked him up from the railway station and brought him to their home. After this they started using her for prostitution. Sania would accompany him to the customers and bring him back. On February 9, when Sania went to her neighbour’s house, the Bangladeshi woman received a call on Sania’s mobile phone. A customer wanted him to come to Attapur. He took an auto-rickshaw and reached the specified place.
Meanwhile, Sania started searching for Akhtar and when he could not find her, she checked her mobile phone. He called the number from which the last call had come. The person told him that Akhtar had come to Attapur. The couple reached there and had an argument with Akhtar. The Bangladeshi woman snatched the mobile phone from Sania’s hand and dialed 100 and informed the police.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Akhtar had a husband and two children in Bangladesh. Police have registered a case against all three and started investigation.
