Bakrid Festival: Muslims offered special prayers in Sivaganga

Tamil Nadu : Thousands of Muslims participated in special prayers on the occasion of Bakrid in Sivaganga on Saturday.

Bakrid is an important festival celebrated by Muslims across the world. It is also known as Hajj festival. It is celebrated in memory of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, the messenger of God.

In memory of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, the messenger of God, Muslims offer special prayers on this day and wear new clothes and sacrifice sheep, cows and camels in their homes and divide them into three equal parts, one part of which is given to neighbors and friends, the second part to the poor and the third part is used for their own needs. Hence it is also called the day of Azha.

Hundreds of Muslims gathered at Walaja Nawab Mosque on Nehru Street in Sivaganga Nagar at 7 am on Saturday to offer special prayers on the occasion of Bakrid. Similarly, thousands of Muslims participated in the special prayers of Bakrid held at Adam Masjid, Hawwa Masjid, Rose Nagar An-Noor Masjid and Taqwa Masjid in different parts of the city.
