Chaturmas is considered to have special religious significance in Hindu religion. According to religious beliefs, with the beginning of Chaturmas from July 25, marriages, house warming, mundan and other auspicious functions will come to a halt. What is Chaturmas?
Chaturmas means the holy period of four months. According to religious beliefs, Lord Vishnu goes into Yoganidra in Kshirsagar from Ashadh Shukla Ekadashi (Devshayani Ekadashi) and wakes up on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi (Devuthani Ekadashi).
Marriages and other auspicious rituals are generally not performed during this period. This time is considered auspicious for worship, chanting, penance, fasting, charity and spiritual practice.
