We are taking this initiative to protect our vulnerable poor. We are committed to continue this and save the middle class citizens from the clutches of these unscrupulous lenders,” the Assam Chief Minister said on Thursday.
For the last few days, police across the state have been taking action against illegal moneylenders. All the persons caught under this large-scale operation have been caught with the money recovered from their victims.
Most of these people are running illegal money lending rackets and demanding high interest rates from their customers. Many people have faced harassment from these illegal moneylenders who charge large sums of money at high interest rates and then act like loan sharks on their victims.
