Guwahati: An empty coach parked in the maintenance shed at Guwahati railway station caught fire on Tuesday.
Sabyasachi Dey, chief public relations officer of Northeast Frontier Railway, told ANI that there was no report of any casualty in the fire incident.
CPRO officer said, “A fire broke out in an empty coach parked in the maintenance yard of Guwahati railway station. “The fire engulfed the empty coach during welding activities.”
According to the official, firefighters later managed to control the fire.
Earlier in the day, an empty luggage-cum-guar van coach parked at a Nanded maintenance yard in Maharashtra caught fire, officials said.
The fire was completely brought under control within 30 minutes of the incident, said Chief Public Relations Officer of South Central Railway.
CPRO said that no other coach suffered any damage.
