Assam: Bharat Bandh called by Adivasi Sengel gets partial response

Bihali: Bharat Bandh called by Adivasi Sengel Abhiyaan had an impact on some tibias in Bihali region of the state. Kalyan police detained a total of 105 band members to guarantee the maintenance of public order. The association Adivasi Sengel Abhiyan and all tribal students had called for Bharat Bandh in support of their three demands and the call received a partial response in the Behali area. Secondly, the organizations demand that tribal people be given protected category status as per the Constitution of India. The third requirement of this band is that Sengel language, which is an official language in the country, will be given the status of first state language for the state of Jharkhand and additional second language status in the states of Assam. To avoid any adverse incident, Kalyan police detained 105 supporters. These partisans were arrested by the police forces at the Police Commissionerate of Behali. Meanwhile, protesters alleged that apart from detaining people protesting in support of their demands, police forces also removed cartels and placards that were used to harass the protesters. Although the police have not presented charges at the time of this report’s presentation, it remains to be seen whether the competent authorities will respond to the protesters’ demands in the coming days.
