As Apple’s iPhone 16 launch nears, last-minute leaks emerge

Technology: With the launch of Apple’s iPhone 16 just around the corner, last-minute leaks have emerged, revealing new details. The latest information is the flagship’s camera capabilities and an innovative touch-sensitive capture button. Sources close to 9to5Mac have revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro will support 4K video recording at up to 120fps. This is a significant improvement over the iPhone 15 Pro, which maxes out at 60fps. The increased frame rate allows for better slow-motion effects at the highest resolution.

Apple is planning to enable 4K ProRes video recording to external storage at 120fps on the iPhone 16 Pro. Users will have to ensure that their external storage meets the required speed specifications, as these are likely to exceed the current limits. The report also mentions Apple’s experiments with 8K video recording on the iPhone 16 Pro. This feature will match Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra, but it may be reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro, which is expected to have a higher-resolution zoom lens. Details have emerged about the new touch-sensitive capture button. This button will perform different actions depending on how it is pressed or slid. Pressing once will open the camera app or the option chosen by the user. A light press focuses the camera, while a hard press takes a photo or starts recording.
This feature matches previous leaks and also states that sliding a finger on the button adjusts zoom or exposure. This makes adjustments fast and easy without removing the finger from the button. All these features will be introduced at Apple’s “Glowtime” event on Monday, September 9 at 10 am PT. Four iPhone 16 models and at least two new Apple Watches will be introduced at this event. In addition, more details will be shared about “Apple Intelligence” powered by the A18 Pro chip. “The new touch-sensitive capture button can perform different actions depending on whether you press or slide it,” the report says.
