Arunachal: National Commission for Women delegation visits Ziro

ZIRO: The vibrant valley of Ziro became the focal point for women’s empowerment, safety, and digital inclusion as a high-level delegation from the National Commission for Women (NCW), Delhi, arrived for an intensive tour of Lower Subansiri district.

Reflecting the deep significance of the visit, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh honoured the central team with the prestigious status of ‘state guests’.

The visiting delegation was led by NCW ChairpersonVijaya Rahatkar, and the visit was coordinated by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), under the leadership of its Chairperson Yalem Taga Burang.

The morning’s event was held at the Kalung panchayat hall, where the delegation reviewed the innovative Yashoda AI initiative. This forward-thinking programme explored how cutting-edge technology can be humanised to solve everyday challenges faced by mothers and frontline workers.

Following this, the same venue hosted the ‘She Serve’ programme – a lively session dedicated to nurturing local women leaders in public service and community governance.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted from leadership to community welfare at the Government Secondary School in Hari. The delegation sat down with village elders, young women, and local families for an open awareness session on essential central and state government schemes managed by regional health and livelihood departments.

The tour concluded with a high-stakes review meeting at the district secretariat in Ziro. Rahatkar and her team met with senior administration and police officers of the district to evaluate law and order, ensure sensitive resolution of legal cases affecting women, and cement a secure environment across the valley.
