Itanagar: Stressing the need for a holistic healthcare approach, Governor KT Parnaik emphasized the importance of bringing the latest technology and advanced medical research into the state’s healthcare ecosystem.
He made this remark during a meeting with Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Singh Sanjay, President of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Guwahati, at Lok Bhavan here on Saturday.
The two discussed the changing healthcare landscape in the Northeast region, with a special focus on the healthcare challenges and opportunities unique to Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor shared his concern over the rising incidence of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, stress-related illnesses, and cardiovascular diseases, which are increasingly affecting people of all ages. Emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare, he requested AIIMS Guwahati to initiate specific studies and research to identify specific factors in the region and recommend practical treatments tailored to the socio-cultural and geographical conditions of the Northeast.
He asked AIIMS Guwahati to share modern healthcare innovations, research findings, and best medical practices with health officials and medical institutions in Arunachal Pradesh to strengthen healthcare delivery, improve diagnostic capabilities, and enhance patient care across the state.
Dr. Sanjay, a renowned orthopedic surgeon and Padma Shri awardee, assured the Governor that AIIMS Guwahati would fully cooperate and support in strengthening healthcare collaborations with the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences. He also presented the Governor with his book, “Road Accidents in India,” published by the National Book Trust.
