Kolhapur (IANS) | Maharashtra’s Arnav Paparkar and Karnataka’s T. Sai Janvi emerged winners in the boys’ and girls’ singles section of the 18th Ramesh Desai Memorial Under-16 Tennis Championship at the KDLTA Tennis Complex here.
In a hard-fought boys’ final, qualifier Paparkar from Pune came back from a first set loss to beat fourth seed Samarth Sahita of Mumbai 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in nearly two hours. The tournament was organized by Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) and Kolhapur District Tennis Association (KDLTA) and sponsored by DY Patil.
Unseeded Sai Janvi T. of Bangalore won the girls’ singles title by defeating ninth seed Rishita Basireddy of Telangana 7-5, 6-2.
In the boys’ doubles final, Chandigarh’s Pranil Sharma and Aditya Mor defeated Karnataka’s Aaradhya Kshitij and Sriniket Kannan 6-3, 6-4. In the final, second seeds Nanika Bendram and Sejal Bhutada defeated top seeds Aakriti Sonkusare and Aishwarya Jadhav 6-3, 6-4 to become champions.
Singles winners received trophy and certificate, 200 AITA points and runner-up trophy and certificate, and 150 AITA points, while doubles winner and runner-up received trophy and certificate.
