Arambol locals demand urgent repairs for crumbling Paliye-Bhom to Korgao Road

ARAMBOL: Motorists and parents in Arambol are voicing their frustration, alleging authorities’ neglect towards the deteriorating condition of the Paliye-Bhom to Korgao road. Calls for immediate hotmixing of the road have intensified, with locals attributing various health issues to its current unfinished state and pushing for traffic diversion via the Shri Mahapurush Devasthan route. “The road was last hotmixed around ten years ago, and except for temporarily filling up the potholes, nothing has been done,” shared local resident Sada Parsekar. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the fact that the Harmal Panchkroshi High School is situated along this road, with approximately 2,500 students, teaching and non-teaching staff regularly traversing it.“This is affecting the health of the children who are experiencing back pain as well as respiratory disorders,” claimed Mohan Ibrampurkar, a concerned parent.Parents like Jairam Sawant voiced their discontent, stating, “Despite the years of substandard work done on this road, I have not heard of a single contractor being black-listed. The government is not spending the taxpayers’ money wisely.”

Proposing a solution, Sunesh Pednekar, a student, suggested diverting traffic via the Shri Mahapurush Devasthan temple route, which is in better condition. However, the contractor is fully backed by the government, he alleged.
