Cupertino giant Apple is quite serious when it comes to entering the smart home camera market and earlier reports have mentioned that. The latest report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed more details on the issue. According to the report, Apple will introduce its first smart doorbell with Face ID support. It will be launched in late 2025.
The latest report has revealed that the smart doorbell that comes with Face ID support will automatically unlock doors. This will be possible by using face ID scans. The wireless networking chip that is present in the Apple smart doorbell will be called Proxima and will be manufactured by Apple itself. The Face ID-related images will be processed locally on the device. It will also back up its data to iCloud and this will be great for Apple to boost subscription revenue.
Time will tell whether Apple will offer a smart-lock system with its camera or it will partner with third-party smart home lock makers. Gurman has also mentioned that Apple smart doorbell camera is in the early phases of development.
The smart doorbell camera from Apple is likely to be joined by a smart home hub that is similar to Google’s Nest Hub or Echo Hub devices from Amazon. Rumours have suggested that Apple will fit 6-inch touchscreen on the smart hub device. It will also offer a custom new operating system that comes with Apple Intelligence integration, smart home controls and much more. The company will also bring updated Apple TV as well as HomePod Mini devices next year.
